This double arched tank is supported by having three large acrylic pillars that are 2.5 inches thick. It was important the placement of the top tank be exact. This tank is home to more than 250 tropical fish.

The tank holds 16,000 gallons of saltwater and measures 43 feet wide by 13 feet tall, built from 25,000 pounds of acrylic and weighing 120,000 pounds once filled — home to over 650 species of coral reef alongside its fish population. It sits at the main entrance of Scheels’ 230,000-square-foot Springfield store, greeting shoppers before they reach the store’s other signature attractions, including a 65-foot indoor Ferris wheel.

ASI worked alongside project designer ICM and acrylic manufacturer Reynolds Polymer to get the tank’s placement exact — a demanding standard for a display piece this size.
