When Landry’s Restaurants purchased the Golden Nugget, American Sealants Inc. was called on to help build a $30 million swimming pool envisioned by Tilman Fertitta. The result, which opened as part of a broader resort renovation in November 2009, called for a three-story waterslide plunging through a 200,000-gallon shark aquarium built into the center of the pool — named “Most Extreme” by the Travel Channel, and unlike any other pool in Las Vegas.
The acrylic tube was the first of its kind in the United States, letting swimmers slide through the middle of the shark tank while catching a glimpse of the marine life around them. Concrete rebate issues and fit problems didn’t stop the team: American Sealants Inc. fabricated three of four curved acrylic panels on site. A three-month general contractor delay followed, but American Sealants still finished all fabrication, installation, waterproofing, and extra requested labor ahead of schedule.
As a result, American Sealants Inc. and Landry’s Restaurants continue to work together today on several projects across the U.S.
