Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, USA
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach and ASI have built a long lasting relationship built on trust, experience, and expertise. ASI has completed multiple expansions and ongoing maintenance & repair including underwater repairs and polishing of both wet and dry sides. These projects include the setting and sealing of a large acrylic pieces to house multiple types of fish and mammals. The Virginia Aquarium continues to use ASI as we continue to provide excellent customer service and quality workmanship.
That relationship spans a facility that’s grown considerably since it first opened in 1986: a 1996 expansion tripled the aquarium in size and added a 300,000-gallon shark tank and a 70,000-gallon sea turtle exhibit, followed by the $25 million Restless Planet wing in 2009 and a full renovation of the Chesapeake Bay Aquarium in 2016–17. Today those flagship tanks house sandbar, sand tiger, and nurse sharks; loggerhead, green, and Kemp’s ridley sea turtles; a southern stingray; and a green moray eel — all viewed through the large acrylic panels ASI has set and sealed over the years.
As with every ASI project, the goal was a seamless, crystal-clear result built to last — the same standard the company brings to its work with SeaWorld, Disney, and over 100 zoos and aquariums worldwide.
